Audrey Niffenegger on her new book and the Focus Campaign

Big Titles Deserve Big Type

Do you struggle to read small print books?  Perhaps you have a friend or relative who loves to read but has given up? Many people struggle to read their favourite books simply because the 'standard' font size is too small.  Supported by publishers and authors alike, FOCUS is set to change all that.

FOCUS is campaigning to make popular and bestselling books available in Large Print, promoting more than 80 great reads that will appeal to a wide audience.  The titles include newly published books from bestselling authors including Alan Titchmarsh, Josephine Cox and Wilbur Smith. The books look exactly the same on the shelf as their standard font counterparts, only the font is larger - 16 point rather than the standard 10 point - making for a far more comfortable read which means that at last readers can focus on the content rather than struggling to see the words. You can see an example of 16 point text from one of our titles by downloading and printing a sample page.

Details of the 82 titles published under the FOCUS logo are available on this site and you can now order your books directly through the site with free postage and packing. (The books are only available for sale within the UK).  You can find participating bookstores around the country through our Store Locator.  If you would like to find out more about FOCUS  you can contact us at info@focusonbooks.co.uk or sign up to our mailing list to ensure you hear about new titles as they become available and to keep up to date with the progress of the campaign.

What the Authors Say

“I'm delighted that Her Fearful Symmetry has been chosen for Focus Large Print. As a voracious reader with poor eyesight, I am very much in favour of anything that helps readers to read.”   Audrey Niffenegger

“Anything that makes reading easier is to be applauded – a bright light, a quiet room, large clear print…what could be more enticing. Focus has all my support – two of my books have come out in Large Print and it makes them even more fabulous I think.”   Joanna Lumley

“I have always been a supporter of large print editions and I am delighted that my books are being included in this very worthwhile campaign.”   Joanne Harris

“I am very pleased and honoured to be part of such a fantastic initiative to get Large Print books available on the high street. I welcome a scheme which allows everybody, regardless of age or 20-20 vision, the same access to a wider variety of literature.”   Barbara Taylor Bradford

“Books present an opportunity to enter into a new world or see people in a different light - it's a way to travel the world or the universe without ever leaving your home.  Reading is a gift that should not be denied anyone and books should be in Large Print if that helps more people enjoy their pastime.”  Karin Slaughter

“I am delighted to be involved with such a worthwhile campaign that will benefit so many people, young and old.  Now my mother will be able to read some good books - and her son's!"  Nick Drayson

“Ever since contracting ME I have been unable to focus on print, so I know well the frustration of not being able to read.   I have many friends who need large print, however, and the prospect of being able to browse in a bookshop and buy a large print book for a friend is delightful.  More power to your elbow!” Katie Flynn
